Inspiration
This teapot draws inspiration from bamboo, a timeless symbol cherished in traditional Chinese culture. Bamboo bends but never breaks, thriving quietly in misty southern mountains. The master potter captured its slender, graceful silhouette and unyielding spirit, translating the serene charm of bamboo groves onto the body of this Nixing clay Shi Piao pot.
The Craft
Every bamboo leaf and branch on the pot belly is hand-carved stroke by stroke. With a sharp carving knife, the artisan patiently shapes each vein and leaf edge, pursuing the natural rhythm of wild bamboo. No moulds or pre-made stencils are used. The classic Shi Piao shape delivers balanced lines, with a smooth spout and ergonomic handle for comfortable pouring. The clean, minimalist form lets the carved bamboo artwork take centre stage.
The Clay
Crafted from authentic Nixing clay mined in Qinzhou, Guangxi, one of China’s Four Famous Pottery clays. Fired under high temperature, the clay develops a deep, textured dark bronze patina. As you brew tea over time, the surface will gradually grow softer, glossier, and develop a unique warm tone shaped only by your tea.
The Meaning
Bamboo stands for integrity, resilience and quiet elegance. This teapot is more than a brewing vessel. Every time you pour tea, you bring the calm energy of mountain bamboo into your tea ritual. It celebrates slow living, inner poise and the understated beauty of nature.
A Note on Uniqueness
Each piece is handcrafted and kiln-transformed — no two are identical. Subtle variations in color, texture, and size are the signature of genuine Nixing clay: your piece is truly one of a kind. Photos are for reference; please allow for slight differences from the images.
